More than 1,000 science educators, speakers and thought leaders will converge at the Palm Springs Convention Center from Oct. 14 through 16, 2022, for the annual California Science Education Conference. The conference exists to provide the science education community with up-to-date information, idea sharing, lessons and cutting-edge developments to implement in the classroom, laboratory, and associated science education areas.

With the development of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in California and the implementation of new curriculum, the Science Education Conference stands to be the platform for resource gathering, professional development, and networking for the state’s science education community.

“The goal of the California Science Education Conference is to give California science educators an opportunity to grow professionally in order to improve student outcomes and increase access to a high-quality science education,” said Peter A’Hearn, California Association of Science Educators President. “Palm Springs is an amazing place for the science education community to gather. Building off the sessions and exposure to this great region, teachers who attend the conference will leave armed with new ideas, new learnings, new contacts, and new resources, be refreshed and motivated to continue implementing the California Next Generation Science Standards in their classrooms and districts. The California Science Education Conference is comprised of more than 150 educational sessions, short courses, keynote addresses and events. Sessions and educational opportunities will range from a pre-conference Science Leaders Day to workshops on topics such as biodiversity, genetics, engineering, lab safety, environmental literacy, educational assessment, DEI, and more. The conference will also feature keynote addresses by Tim Blais, Founder of A Capella Science and Jim Churchman, Hollywood stunt coordinator and founder of the nonprofit The Flying Hero Club.
