The local eTrans bus system within the City of Escalon and to Modesto will resume operations starting on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023. The original date for resuming service was Feb. 15 but that has been pushed back slightly.

On Jan. 17, 2023, the City Council approved a new one-year contract with MTM Transit, LLC, the current operator of the Tracy TRACER transit system to operate eTrans. This partnership with MTM and City of Tracy will provide the opportunity for Escalon residents to receive transportation at a lower cost than previously paid to the Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority.

eTrans operates Monday through Friday excluding holidays from 8:12 a.m. to 5:12 p.m.

For use of the Escalon Dial-A-Ride, passengers can call 209-541-6645 at least 15 minutes in advance for door-to-door service within the city limits of Escalon and to Jacob Myers Park in Riverbank, where passengers can transfer to The S Demand Response – Riverbank Dial-A-Ride service.

For using Route 35, passengers can board the bus at anyone of the eTrans bus stop signs in Escalon or north Modesto for travel between Escalon Park and Ride Lot and Vintage Faire Mall, three times a day departing Escalon at 8:12 a.m., 1:12 p.m. and 4:12 p.m.

Connections to The S and Ripon Blossom Express is available at Vintage Faire Mall. Route 35 also deviates within a three-quarter mile radius for anyone requesting door to door service.

In addition to eTrans bus service, the following transportation options are available in Escalon:

• RTD’s VanGo! by calling (209) 943-1111, option 3 for a fare of $4 within San Joaquin County only.

• Access San Joaquin MyRide volunteer transportation, by calling (209) 242-9965.

• eTrans On The Go! This is a subsidy program with Uber of which the City will pay the first $10 of an Uber trip. The end user has to pay $2 first upon using the subsidy. Vouchers can be obtained at www.escalonetrans.org and users should download the Uber app available in the App Store for iOS users or Google Play for Android users.

eTrans is Escalon’s own bus system. The door-to-door dial-a-ride service operates within the City of Escalon and provides connection to Riverbank. The intercity Route 35 service operates between the Downtown Escalon Park and Ride Lot and Northwest Modesto serving Kaiser Permanente, Vintage Faire Mall and destinations on Kiernan Avenue, Dale Road, McHenry Avenue and Standiford Avenue, Monday through Friday. Transit Services are funded with State Transportation Development Act (TDA), Measure K and Federal Transit Administration Section 5311 funds. All transit services provided by eTrans are open and available to the general public.
