Coming up on Saturday, Sept. 19 the MAPS, Modesto Area Partners In Science, will present Wild Planet Day on the Modesto Junior College West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., from 10 am. to 2 p.m.

Festivities will be set up in and around the Science Community Center on the MJC West Campus and Wild Planet Day is free and open to all.

This year, said officials, it is “all about Beaks, Jaws and Claws” and all are encouraged to join in for a day of family fun while learning about native predator species and the crucial roles they play in the environment.

There will be several free shows offered, open to everyone.

West Coast Falconry - Live shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Science Community Center Room 114.

Mad Science of Sacramento - Live show at 11 a.m., with fun stations available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Campus Quad.

Butterfly Experience - Get up close and personal with Painted Lady butterflies.

MJC STEM Clubs - Tables and activities for all ages.

Admission to the Great Valley Museum is free on this day.

Also, plan to visit the following groups and organizations that will be on site with activities and information: Yokuts Group of the Sierra Club; Audubon Society, Stanislaus Chapter; California State Parks; Girl Scouts; UC Stanislaus County Master Gardeners Program; Yosemite Rivers Alliance; Bookish; and Grassland Education Center.
