There were dogs, cats and plenty of kittens up for adoption on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Escalon Library, site of a special Pet Adoption Day hosted in cooperation with the Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance and the City of Oakdale Animal Shelter. The shelter serves the communities of Oakdale, Escalon and Riverbank. There were a few furry friends finding new forever homes as a result of the event. OSPA volunteers were on hand, as well as some City of Oakdale personnel and they also announced a ‘Very Furry Christmas’ canine costume contest is set for Sunday Dec. 3 at the Gene Bianchi Community Center Plaza in Oakdale, with cash awards for contest winners. The event is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
