It’s always Christmas at this one shop in historic Old Sacramento.
No surprise that Christmas & Company at 116 K St. is the first stop for many during the holidays – and any other day for that matter – during a visit to the state capital.
“Ornaments and ornaments galore adorn this beautiful space in Old Sac,” said Danielle, who does numerous online reviews during her travels.
Although she’s from Sacramento, Danielle calls this her “go-to” place to shop in the summer. “I’ve become that girl (who buys ornaments in July) during my first trip in,” she said.
Christmas & Company is filled with collectibles, from nutcrackers and candles to lights and a variety of Santa Claus figures.
Old Sac has plenty of places to do your Christmas shopping.
The Old Sacramento Trading Post (1115 Front St. Ste. 5) has authentic American Indian jewelry along with arts and crafts.
G. Willikers Toy Emporium (1113 Front St.) has everything from nostalgic to novelty items and high-tech toys.
The Candy Barrel (1006 Second St.), Sacramento Sweets Co. (1035 Front St.) and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (1039 Second St.), to name a few, has something for that person with the sweet tooth.
With the holidays comes the Theatre of Lights at K Street and Front Street.
Lights will again adorn the balconies and facades of the historic buildings.
Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 23, Clement Clarke Moore’s classic Christmas poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” will come to life with the eighth annual event made possible by the Downtown Sacramento Foundation, the City of Sacramento, and the Old Sacramento merchants.
The highlight of this 20-minute production conceived and created by Stage Nine Exhibitions’ Troy Carlson – also involved is Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, Associated Sound and Skywalker Sound, and the Emmy-nominated voice of actor Bill Farmer – is the live dramatization of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” complete with a special appearance by Jack Frost coupled with the lighting of 58-foot tree by none other than St. Nick.

Fat City Bar & Café (1001 Front St.) is an ornate bar with stained-glass ceiling, serving up New American bar food and cocktails.
La Terraza (1027 Second St.) and Fanny Ann’s Saloon (1023 Second St.) are other places to check out for a quick sit-down meal.
