Plenty of Stockton options

STOCKTON — On your mark, get set…

What better way to kick off 2016 but with the Resolution Run and Pajama Jam.

That’s the name of this 11th annual family-friendly event at Fleet Feet Stockton.

This is a two-mile fun run and walk that takes place at the stroke of midnight on Thursday, Dec. 31.

But it’s not just a new year’s run, said Tony Vice, who is one of the owners and operators of Fleet Feet Sports at 277 Lincoln Center.

“Don’t forget to wear your best PJs,” he said. “We’ll give out a special prize for the best pajamas that night.

“When we’re all done, you can just head home and go straight to sleep.”

Fleet Feet will also be serving up hot chocolate, cookies, and treats while raffling off over $2,000 in prizes following the run, which kicks off in front of the store.

The course loops twice through Lincoln Center and the Lincoln Village neighborhood.

Cost is $20 and includes a custom long sleeve t-shirt, raffle ticket and other goodies.

Last year’s Carnaval at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel was sold out.

This Central Valley premiere event will feature local band Latin Soul, playing a blend of Latin, R&B and Old School music along with DJ E-Motion spinning between sets in Room 1.

In Room 2, DJ Manuel C from the Mega 100 Mix Crew and Frank G will combine to play today’s hottest dance hits and yesterday’s club classics.

Dress code calls for semi formal with no sports attire or tennis shoes.

Seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Cost is $40 through Dec. 30 and $50 at the doors. Included are hors d’oeuvres.

Tickets may purchase online at or calling Frank G (209.406.7489), Gilbert (209.483.0172) or Marcy (209.482.5091).

Whirlow’s Tossed and Grilled (1926 Pacific Ave.) along Stockton’s Miracle Mile will ring in the new year with Bobby Green on drums and Mike Whirlow on keyboards performing a great blend of music from the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s rock.

They’ll begin performing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, and could be joined by friends and guests stopping during this session.
