MORADA — Comedian Nick Larson recently performed at Koe’s Whiskey and Tap House.

That’s the so-called dive bar at 10200 N. Highway 99. Although it’s listed in Stockton, Koe’s is more a part of old Morada located along the frontage road not too far from where the landmark Pollardville once stood.

Larson entertained folks with his stand-up act in the large back patio space of Koe’s.

“Between the car alarms going off and the giant spiders that were creeping everyone out, it was a really fun set and a great night,” he posted on social media.

Koe’s – surrounded by storage units and churches – appears as one of those random blink-or-you’ll-miss-it places from the freeway.

The exterior is fairly modest, especially during the daytime.

But it’s the colorful trademark neon lights that bring the place to life come nightfall, with comedy acts, Country line-dancing lesson, poker tournaments and live entertainment attracting folks from all over.

Inside, Koe’s was remodeled in recent years. The entrance is that of a diamond-plated door while the circular bar is where locals and visitors can relax and enjoy a mixed drink of their choice or a cold one.

Where else can you get cheap beers such as Olympia, Pabst Blue Ribbon, or Hamm’s in cans?

A pair of HDTVs and multiple pool tables along with the internet jukebox kicking out tunes by the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Beasties Boys, Metallica, Sublime, Journey, just to name a few.

Jeff of Lodi enjoys Koe’s, calling it a “nice place to hang out – relaxing and no one hassles anyone.”

Tricia of Stockton is also a big fan of the place. She, too, enjoyed the atmosphere during her recent visits.

“I’ve been here two consecutive Friday nights and had a great time,” she said. “The bartenders are friendly.”
