National Philanthropy Day (NPD) was created to recognize and pay tribute to the philanthropists who help others through donations, volunteering or acts-of-kindness in our community.
The Yosemite Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) hosts an awards ceremony and luncheon every other year that is open to the public. The gathering this year is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto.
The 2018 National Philanthropy Day Award Recipients include: Outstanding Philanthropist – The Bruno Family; Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser – Janice Lucero, Community Hospice; Outstanding Youth Philanthropist – Erin Benning, Student; Outstanding Fundraising Professional – Kathy Hobby, Stanislaus County Office of Education; Outstanding Corporate Donor – Modesto Toyota; Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation, Service Organization or Nonprofit – Modesto Sunrise Rotary Club; Lifetime Achievement – Jacqueline Foret.

Returning this year is the “Champion” designation, which allows organizations to recognize and celebrate the person who has been instrumental in the success of their charitable organization over the past year. All attending organizations are invited to participate by choosing to honor a star volunteer, devoted member, major financial supporter, or outstanding staff member.
