Fall in love with fall at Stanislaus State
Fall 1

Although recent summer-like temperatures may not always show it, fall is officially here and the best place to enjoy it is at Stanislaus State in Turlock.

Often considered the hidden gem of Turlock, the 228-acre campus is filled with hundreds of trees, making it the perfect spot to see the leaves change color during fall. With miles of walking trails in and around the campus and an immense reflecting pond, streams and waterfalls, the University is also ideal for an autumn stroll.

Almost any spot on campus is a good spot to take a break during a stroll of the University, especially at the gazebo by Sequoia Lake, where guests can surround themselves with trees tinged with fall colors in the company of the many ducks and geese that call the campus home.

Those looking to turn an evening stroll into more of a date night only have to cross Crowell Avenue at the west end of campus to indulge in their choice of Italian food at Vito’s Ristorante and Pizzeria or a steaming hot bowl of pho and all the fixings at the newly-opened Pho Americana located at 3851 Crowell Road and 3821 Crowell Road, respectively.

At Vito’s, guests can choose from authentic Italian pizza or a number of homemade dishes that are prepared using locally-sourced ingredients, as well as wide variety of salads, beer and an extensive wine list. For those looking for Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Americana offers noodle bowls, crisp banh mi made to order and an assortment of pearl drinks.

Vito’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Americana Pho is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

To conclude a perfect fall evening, guests can take the short walk back to campus to enjoy the next theatre production, recital or art exhibit that is open to the public at Snider Recital Hall or the University Art Gallery. For those looking to conclude their day with a fall sport, there are also men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball games at Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena several times a week.
