Central Valley High School in Ceres was the site for the Zone 2 season kickoff youth wrestling tournament on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Escalon Wrestling Club had 14 kids take part in the tournament and seven came away with medals.

Two Escalon wrestlers took first place and earned gold medals at the event, both in the 15u division. Anthony Teicheira at 106 pounds went 2-0 and Gunner Hawes at 120 pounds went 3-0.

At 90 pounds in the 12u division, Jax Teixeira earned a second place silver medal.

Bronze medal winners, third place finishers, included Ezekiel Mendez, 8u, 70 pounds, 2-2; Austin Sanchez, 10u, 80 pounds, 3-1.

Earning fourth place medals were Josiah Freitas, 6u, 3-2; and Brody Gentry, 12u, 1-2.

Also competing for EWC were: Leonidas Watson, Maximus Watson, 6u; Luke Sanchez, Cody Gentry, Hunter Brisendine, Keegan Lewellen, 10u; Kennedy Van Dyk, 12u girls.
