Action for the Escalon cross country team featured the Trans-Valley League finals, hosted at Riverbluff Park in Ceres on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Head coach Arend Jones said it was a good day, as the teams “performed quite well” in the competition.

In the first race, JV girls, Ashley Flores finished first for Escalon, placing 13th overall with a time of 17:53, and ranking among the Top 10 individual runners of the race.

“Another honorable mention is senior, Cecilia Lechuga, who had a personal best with a time of 19:55,” Jones said.

In the JV boys race, freshman Alden Schultz finished first, placing 18th overall, with a time of 12:53. Two other honorable mentions went to sophomore Mateo Estrada, who had a personal best with a time of 13:09 and sophomore Timothy Scott, who also had a personal best with 16:17.

In the Varsity girls race, junior Victoria Calderon finished 17th overall with a time of 23:16. Two honorable mentions, said Jones, go to junior Brooklynn Sparacino with a personal best time of 26:06 and junior Hope MacKinnon who also had a personal best time of 28:55.

“Finally, in the Varsity boys race, sophomores Alex Girardi and Ethan Young finished close together, and both finished under twenty minutes, placing 27th and 28th overall with season best times of 19:45 and 19:55 respectively,” the coach said.

He also gave out four honorable mentions for that race, all with personal best times including sophomore Rigoberto Ramirez who finished at 20:13, junior Kenneth Vargas at 21:01, freshman Easton Beneux at 21:23, and junior Rylan Eproson at 23:00.
