The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series made its annual visit to Wine Country and Sonoma Raceway. Records were shattered during qualifying.

In Top Fuel, Brittany Force and her Monster Energy dragster set a new world and track speed record. Force’s dragster put a 343.16 mph on the scoreboard Friday night under the lights.

Doug Kalitta captured his 56th career victory in his MAC Tools dragster by defeating Antron Brown in the final round. Kalitta ran a 3.752 @ 334.57 mph to Brown’s tire smoking 4.067 @ 229.74 mph. Kalitta last won in Sonoma back in 2005.

Funny Car reigning champion Austin Prock regained his stride scoring his 17th career win. Prock qualified in the fifth position and would square off against two-time champion Cruz Pedregon in round one. Prock ran the quickest and fastest run of the day with 3.833 @ 340.90 mph to Pedregon’s 4.935 @ 204.14 mph. The 340.90 mph is a new track speed record. Round two Prock would take down Paul Lee with a solid 3.887 @ 335.48 mph to Lee’s 3.934 @ 321.65 mph. His semifinal opponent would be four-time champion Matt Hagan. Prock would put another solid 3.927 @ 333.91 mph to defeat Hagan’s 3.937 @ 333.91 mph. Prock would then take on Funny Car rookie Spencer Hyde. It would be all Prock with a 3.904 @ 333.82 mph to Hyde’s 3.956 @ 323.35 mph. This was his fifth win of the season and Prock extended his points lead with his victory.

In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson and teammate Dallas Glenn swapped the track record et back and forth multiple time over the course of the three-day event. Glenn finally claimed it with a 6.461 in the opening round on Sunday. In the semifinals both Glenn’s and Anderson’s cars shook the tires and they would fall to their opponents. That set up a father vs. son match up in the final round between dad Greg Stanfield and son Aaron Stanfield. The younger Stanfield schooled his dad on the starting line with a .016 rt to his dad’s .030. Dad Stanfield then proceeded to school his son by driving around him with a 6.552 @ 211.49 mph to 6.568 @ 209.39mph. This was Greg Stanfield’s third career Pro Stock win.

Richard Gadson scored his second career win in Pro Stock Motorcycle and picked up his very first pole award. In the final round, Gadson defeated John Hall with a run of 6.756 @ 199.97 mph to Hall’s 6.807 @ 196.04 mph.
