Improving to a 12-3 overall record, Escalon’s varsity Lady Cougars opened up Trans-Valley League play with a win, getting past Riverbank 46-42 on Thursday, Jan. 7. On the strength of a 22-point, 19-rebound effort from Shelby McCune, the varsity squad came from behind to get the league-opening win. McCune made a big impact at the free throw line, converting on 10-of-15 attempts.
