A couple of wrestlers from the Escalon Wrestling Club brought home first place honors from the Bret Harte High School Tournament, hosted in Angels Camp on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Keegan Lewellen, wrestling at 111 pounds in the 10u division, took gold with a first place showing, going 2-0 at the tournament. In the 12u division, Brody Gentry competed in the 80-86 pound bracket and went a perfect 4-0 to earn a first place medal.
Third place medals went to Grayson Jefferson, 10u, 75 pounds; Preston Jefferson, 10u, 99 pounds; and Anthony Teicheira, 15u, 100 pounds. Bringing home fourth place honors were Josiah Freitas, 6u, 48 pounds; and Antonio Munoz, 8u, 55 pounds.
Also wrestling during the tournament were Hudson Jefferson, 6u, 44 pounds and Steven Saunders, 6u, 44 pounds; Ezekiel Mendez, 8u, 65-70 pounds; Cody Gentry, 10u, 75 pounds; and Aiden Yates-Perreira, 15u, 155 pounds.
Earlier, club members traveled to Modesto for a Jan. 25 tournament at Gregori High School.
Bringing home silver with a second place finish was Connor Lohman, 10u, 111 pounds; with third place medals going to Austin Sanchez, 10u, 80 pounds and Brody Gentry, 12u, 80 pounds. Fourth place finishers were Josiah Freitas, 6u, 48 pounds; Steven Saunders, 6u, 44 pounds; and River Vasquez, 10u, 75 pounds.
Also taking part were Jameson Garcia, 6u, 44 pounds; Antonio Munoz, 8u, 55 pounds; Luke Sanchez, 10u, 70 pounds; Cody Gentry, 10u, 75 pounds; Aiden Robinson-Garcia, 10u, 75 pounds. Also, Garrett Gaines, 12u, 80 pounds; Anthony Teicheira, 15u, 100 pounds; and Aiden Yates-Perreira, 15u, 155 pounds.
