Escalon Wrestling Club 1-14-26

Four members of the Escalon Wrestling Club attended the Golden Valley High School Tournament hosted on Jan. 11 in Merced. Keegan Lewellen, in the 111-pound weight class in 10u, took a second place silver medal. He also wrestled some matches in the 130-pound category but did not medal there.

A bronze medal went to Cody Gentry, 10u, 75 pounds. Also wrestling but not medaling were Brody Gentry, 12u, 80 pounds and Gunnar Hawes, 15u, 120 pounds.

Earlier this month, at the Escalon High School Tournament hosted by the EWC on Jan. 4, there were multiple wrestlers competing.

By age group, competitors were: 6u, Jameson Garcia, 40 pounds; Josiah Freitas, 48 pounds, fourth place; Leonidas Watson, 48 pounds; Hunter Barrett, 48 pounds; Maximus Watson, 58 pounds, fourth place.

10u: Luke Sanchez, 70 pounds; Cody Gentry, 75 pounds; fourth place; Aiden Robinson-Garcia, 75 pounds.

12u: Brody Gentry, 80-85 pounds, 3-0, first place, gold; Garrett Gaines, 80-85 pounds; Keegan Lewellen, 107 pounds, fourth place; also wrestled in 10u in the 111-pound bracket; Logan Lanza, 160, second place.

12u girls: Kennedy Van Dyk, 70-77 pounds; third place.

15u: Anthony Teicheira, 100-106 pounds, second place; also wrestled in 15u in the 106-pound bracket, Gunnar Hawes, 120 pounds, 3-0, first place, gold; Aiden Yates-Perreira, 155 pounds.

15u girls: Reagan Fernandes, 140 pounds, third place.
