Vernon Lee Jansen passed away on January 13, 2022 in Modesto, California at the age of 81. He was born on January 23, 1940 in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Vernon was a proud resident of Escalon, California for over 50 years, where he graduated from Escalon High in 1958. He bravely served our country in the 101st Airborne Division (Army) for six years. Upon his return, he started his career in construction and carpentry, and built commercial buildings, including schools and hospitals in San Mateo, California. He married the love of his life, Judy, in 1969, and the pair raised a daughter and two sons. He was an honorable 50-year member of the Carpenters Union and he was able to retire in 2002. Vernon will be known as a hard worker, and is greatly missed by dear friends and family.
Vernon is preceded in passing by his daughter, Teri Kaler. Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judy Jansen; his sons, Kip Jansen (Genevieve Jansen) of Escalon and Jeff Kaler of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Laura Yang of San Diego, Anna Jansen of Escalon, Cash Jansen of Escalon, Selah Jansen of Escalon, one great-grandson, Liam Hardy of San Diego, and a surviving sister, Shirley Jansen of Arizona.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Jansen family. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, January 28th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. Military honors and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 11 a.m. at Saron Lutheran Church in Escalon, California. Please arrive promptly to respect the Military honors service provided by the American Legion Post 263.
