Peter W. Van Vliet went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2026 due to a long struggle with failing health. He was born in Escalon on July 19, 1961. He graduated from Ripon Christian High School in 1979. He went on to work for Pony Express and later at Simpson Paper Mill for 23 years. Although he could not attend events with large gatherings, Pete was always very aware of what was going on with his family, friends, church family, and community. Pete was very patriotic and loved to celebrate the 4th of July. He also took great pride in his home. He lived in Escalon for the last 15 years.

Pete is survived by his mother Connie Van Vliet of Escalon, CA; Jack and Hilda (sister) Beukelman of Rathdrum, ID, Nico and JoAnn (sister) Beukelman of Visalia, CA, Bill and LeeAnn (sister) Bergwerff of Escalon, CA, John (brother) and Kathy Van Vliet of Escalon, CA; 18 nephews and nieces, 25 great nephews and nieces, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pete is preceded in death by his father John M. Van Vliet, his brother Bill Van Vliet, and his sister Lisa Van Vliet-Beaver.

Burial will be on February 19 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Escalon CRC.
