Loren Loyd Spooner was born September 24, 1932 in Michigan City, Indiana. After farming and doing construction work, he moved to Oakdale where he was a member of the Painter’s Union #317. He married Rosie King who passed away in 2000. A few years later, while taking a Spanish class at the Oakdale Community Center, he spotted Janet. She was taking a painting class and that day decided he wanted to take up painting so he could get to know her. He married her in 2005 and lived in Escalon. He loved Jesus, painting, bowling and writing poetry. He was a member of Trinity Church and Oak Valley Art Society.

Loren peacefully went to be with the Lord due to complications of pneumonia on April 11, 2025 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Janet Spooner, his stepdaughters, Shirley Lightly, Annette Walker, Lana Beck, Laura Lacher and a stepson, Louis LaPorte. He also leaves behind step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life at Trinity Church in Escalon May 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to the Escalon Youth Center through Trinity Church, 1900 California Street, Escalon, CA 95320 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
