David Eugene Gwartney, 40, of Escalon, California, passed away on November 15, 2025.

David was saved and baptized at Big Valley Grace Church at the same time as his sister Stacy. Throughout his life, he showed his love for Jesus Christ through his love for his family and others. Sometimes he struggled here on earth but now he’s at home with his Savior and Lord. Toward the end of his life, one of his greatest joys was watching his son Logan get involved at Heritage Church in Escalon.

Raised in Escalon, David was admired for his sharp wit, generous heart, and unwavering work ethic. From a young age, he was the kind of person others depended on, someone who could make you laugh in the hardest moments and show up when it truly mattered. After graduating, he began his career as a mechanic. His dedication to service later led him to join the U.S. Army, where he served with honor and pride. Following his military career, he continued supporting his country through meaningful work with the Department of Defense, a role he embraced with great pride.
