Special Food And Crafts Sale Scheduled Friday
market

Students in special education programs in San Joaquin County will sell produce grown in school gardens and crafts made in the classroom at the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) on Friday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Transactions are cash-only.

The sale will be at the Wentworth Education Center parking lot, San Joaquin County Office of Education, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton

The special Farmers Market is sponsored by the WorkAbility I program through the San Joaquin County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), part of the SJCOE. WorkAbility I is a state program that provides students ages 12 to 22 vocational services and places students 16 and older in paid positions with local employers.

The middle school students, high school students, and young adults participating in the Farmers Market learn valuable skills preparing products for sale and by interacting with customers.

The public can also support the Workability I program by bringing their recyclable bottles and cans. Recycling services will be provided by the SJCOE’s Greater Valley Conservation Corps (GVCC), which will also be accepting E-Waste, tires, and mattresses for recycling. The recycling event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There is a limit of nine tires per vehicle for recycling and it is for light trucks and passenger cars only. No rims.

Acceptable electronic items for the E-Waste recycling include: computer monitors, laptops, computers, projectors, medical equipment, lab equipment, CRT screens, plasma screens, television, LCD screens, calculators, stereo systems, IT equipment, and microwaves. No car batteries, washers, dryers, or refrigerators.
