At the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors swearing-in and re-organizational meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, Fifth District Supervisor Robert Rickman was unanimously elected Chair.

The Chair presides over all meetings of the County Board to maintain order and decorum, decide questions of procedure, and conduct the meetings as prescribed by Board rules and the laws of the State of California. The Chair is also tasked with deciding Board committee assignments for the year.

Regular sessions of the Board of Supervisors are held on Tuesdays at 9 a.m.

Board schedules, agendas, and agenda materials may be viewed at www.sjgov.org. The Board meetings are webcast and may also be viewed via link found at the County website.

Rickman’s Fifth District covers south San Joaquin County and includes Escalon, Mountain House, Ripon, Tracy and associated unincorporated areas.

“I want to thank my colleagues for their vote of trust and confidence in me to lead this Board,” said Supervisor Rickman. “I look forward to working in collaboration with our county residents, our regional partners, as well as my fellow Board Members as we tackle the many challenges before us in 2023.”

Rickman was elected to a four-year term on the board, initially taking a seat on the panel in January 2021; his term runs through January 2025.

Named as Vice-Chair for 2023 was Miguel Villapudua, District 1. Other county supervisors serving on the dais are Paul Canepa, District 2; Tom Patti, District 3; and Steven J. Ding; District 4.
