Residents encouraged to help ‘stuff the bus’

The City of Escalon through its transit service, eTrans, will conduct a one-day “Stuff This Bus” food drive on Saturday, Nov. 22. The food donated to eTrans will benefit Escalon C.A.R.E. to help those in need for the upcoming holiday season. This is the 16th annual event, as the food drive began in November 2010 in partnership with Big Boy Market and Escalon C.A.R.E., Community Action Resources of Escalon.

The event will be hosted at MarVal’s Main Street Market, at 1900 McHenry Ave., in Escalon. Hours for the Nov. 22 collection are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The local eTrans service will have a bus parked in front of the store and have volunteers from the City of Escalon and Escalon C.A.R.E. on hand to collect donated perishable and non-perishable food. The food collected will be placed inside the bus.

Customers of Mar Val that purchase any item that is donated to this cause will receive a discount off their purchases at the store during this event. There are also pre-packaged bags of food available for purchase to donate.

Escalon C.A.R.E. provides food items for residents in need through a series of programs, including the Wednesday food distribution, senior brown bag and the veggie van.
