Red Flag Warning in effect for Valley
NWS

National Weather Service forecasters in Sacramento have issued a Red Flag Warning for the Northern San Joaquin Valley in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties below 1000 feet.

The warning remains in effect through 9 a.m. Sunday, June 22 for gusty winds and low humidity.

North winds 10 to 20 mph are predicted with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. Strongest winds are expected across the Sacramento Valley along and west of Interstate 5, the Delta, and the northern San Joaquin Valley.

Minimum daytime humidity: 15 to 25 percent. Overnight recoveries in the mid 40s to mid 50s.

Highest threat is in the Sacramento Valley along and west of the I-5 corridor, adjacent Coastal Range, and the northern San Joaquin Valley.

The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
