Average gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 1.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.15/gallon as of Monday, Nov. 24, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Prices in Modesto are 21.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 2.5 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 0.8 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $3.77 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $3.73/gallon while the most expensive was $5.11, a difference of $1.38/gallon. The lowest price in the state was $3.45 while the highest was $6.79, a difference of $3.34/gallon.
The national average price of gasoline is unchanged in the last week, averaging $3.03/gallon on Nov. 24. The national average is down 2.0 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 2.5 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
“Ahead of the peak of Thanksgiving travel, the national average has remained relatively steady, holding close to where it’s been for the last few weeks,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “With refinery maintenance wrapping up, we’re likely to see more relief soon, particularly in the Great Lakes and West Coast regions. While Washington and Oregon may still see issues related to the Olympic pipeline shutdown, the broader outlook is promising – especially with oil prices dipping below $60 per barrel. Many states could begin to see further declines in the weeks ahead, just in time for the holidays.”
Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $4.18/gallon, up 5.0 cents per gallon from $4.13; Oakland - $4.44, down 5.8 cents per gallon from $4.50; and San Jose - $4.37/gallon, down 5.9 cents from last week’s $4.42/gallon.
Historical gasoline prices in Modesto and the national average going back ten years show the highest Modesto price on Nov. 24 was $4.78 in 2022 and the highest U.S. average was $3.55 per gallon, also in 2022. Lowest price in Modesto was $2.45 per gallon on Nov. 24, 2016 and the lowest U.S. average of $2.05 per gallon was recorded on Nov. 24, 2015.
