Work continues on the Main Street project for downtown Escalon, which includes the installation of sidewalks on the park side of the street from just east of First Street to St. John, including ADA curb ramps and intersection bulb-outs at Third and Fourth streets, as well as frontage sidewalk and parking lot repaving at the Escalon Library on Second Street. Also, as part of the project, City Manager Jaylen French said work is being done to level the Main Street Park grass area to “ensure it is easier for all to walk on.” The project is funded by a Smart Growth Incentive grant through the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG), which is intended to improvement pedestrian mobility in downtowns.
