At the final summer Concert in the Park hosted in Escalon on Friday evening, Aug. 8, San Joaquin County Supervisor Robert Rickman presented a check to representatives of Gather Around Main to help cover the cost of the community event. Rickman represents Escalon as the District 5 Supervisor and the county board earlier this summer approved his proposal to provide $4,700 in District 5 discretionary funds to help finance the concert series. There were concerts in June, July and August, encouraging residents to come downtown for an evening of musical entertainment. Gather Around Main is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community bonds as well as bringing positive visibility and economic foot traffic to Escalon’s downtown and local Main Street businesses.
