This month, the Modesto Children’s Museum, MoChiMu, will be working in cooperation with Jessica’s House and the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) in recognition of Children’s Grief Awareness Month, joining the national “Healing with Play” initiative.

Also, MoChiMu has been named as a partner in the annual “Share the Love” event through Subaru.

“Healing with Play” highlights the vital role play can have in helping children and families process grief and find hope. Throughout November, Modesto Children’s Museum will share educational resources and host opportunities for visitors to engage in healing-centered play.

On Friday, Nov. 15, representatives of Jessica’s House will be onsite to lead special interactive programs and share strategies for families supporting children through loss.

MoChiMu has also been selected as the local partner for Subaru’s annual “Share the Love” event and will celebrate that partnership and the beginning of the season of giving with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 4:15 p.m.

The ceremony will be in front of the museum, 928 11th St., downtown Modesto. Subaru’s “Share the Love” event runs through Jan. 2 and is a national campaign where, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased during the event period, Subaru donates to charities that make a positive impact in local communities. As the local charity partner, MoChiMu will receive donations directly supporting hands-on learning experiences and programs for local children and families. With the support of Subaru and the addition of the MoChiMu vehicle, the museum will expand its reach through Outreach Workshops, bringing hands-on learning experiences directly to schools, libraries, afterschool programs, and community events across the region.

These programs invite children to explore, measure, build, program, create, test, question, cheer, touch, and learn wherever they are. Designed for classroom-sized spaces and aligned with educational standards, the workshops spark curiosity and creativity while complementing teachers’ curriculum. Through this expanded outreach, MoChiMu aims to reach over 4,500 students, inspiring learners of all backgrounds with the joy of discovery.

As part of the Nov. 19 celebration, guests will have the opportunity to see the brand-new MoChiMu Subaru vehicle, enjoy light refreshments, and learn more about how this partnership will support MoChiMu’s mission of inspiring creativity, discovery, and lifelong learning. The ribbon cutting will feature remarks from representatives of Subaru and MoChiMu as well as local elected officials.
