Officer year

Escalon Reserve Police Officer Zachary Pelham, center, accepts a plaque and congratulations from Fred Mooney of the Civitan Clubs of Stanislaus, which provided recognition for him as Officer of the Year in Escalon at Monday night’s Escalon City Council meeting. Looking on from behind is Escalon Police Chief Mike Borges, who said Pelham was selected by his peers for recognition. Pelham has been with the department since 2000 and now serves as the commander for the reserve program, overseeing the other 13 reserve officers. He works tirelessly for the city, Borges said, and was well-deserving of the honor.
