The Oakdale Garden Club invites the community to its sixth annual Autumn Garden Tour on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This self-guided tour highlights a variety of private gardens throughout Oakdale, each showcasing the unique creativity, style, and passion of local homeowners. This is the main fundraiser of the Garden Club.
One featured garden makes clever use of an upslope yard, transformed into a series of distinct outdoor “rooms.” These spaces feature an eclectic mix of treasures found in local antique shops and thrift stores. Enjoy a peaceful stop at the koi pond, home to fish over 25 years old, or explore the on-site “man cave” dedicated to the homeowner’s love of speed.
Another garden embraces the theme of The Enchanted Garden, with winding pathways that lead through a lush landscape. Repurposed watering cans, pails, and funnels form a whimsical water feature, surrounded by majestic redwoods and birch trees.
A third garden radiates Serenity, with a professionally landscaped design. Mature evergreens offer privacy for Japanese maples and fruit trees, while a shaded koi pond provides a tranquil focal point. Vintage winemaking artifacts throughout the yard pay homage to the region’s agricultural roots.
An in-town garden is heavily planted to include vegetables, fruit trees, and chickens scratch happily in their coop. The decorated alley is not to be missed.
Tickets are $25 and are available from any Oakdale Garden Club member and locally in Oakdale at Touché of Flowers, The Shoppe on Third, Story Books and Toys on South Second Avenue and Ace Hardware.
Additionally, nurseries in the area are also selling tickets.
