Dolores Huerta, famed labor leader, activist, and co-founder of the United Farm Workers, will speak at Delta College on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The community is welcome and encouraged to attend this free event at 12 p.m. at Atherton Auditorium. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m.; a daily parking permit is required.

As one of the most influential voices for social justice and equity in American history, Huerta will share her powerful story of grassroots organizing, community leadership, and the ongoing fight for social change.

She is an alumnus of Delta College (then known as Stockton College) and last spoke on campus in 2018.

Organizers noted that Dolores Huerta’s message is more urgent than ever.

“This event will challenge and inspire our students, faculty, staff, and community members to embrace activism, civic engagement, and unity as tools for building a more just and equitable future,” said Daniel Fernandez, Delta College counselor/professor and one of the event’s organizers.

The program “Voices of Change: Dolores Huerta Speaks to the Next Generation” will highlight a month-long celebration of Latine History Month at Delta College, including a series of events centered on honoring the past, amplifying Delta’s diverse stories, and building community for the future.
