While the first shovels full of ceremonial dirt have already been turned, officials with the Canyon Tunnel Project will soon be in the area to talk about the effort.

The joint Oakdale Irrigation District - South San Joaquin Irrigation District effort will be the topic of a Thursday, Aug. 21 meeting in Knights Ferry. Slated for 5:30 p.m., the meeting is planned at the Knights Ferry Community Club, 17601 Main St.

The meeting will cover topics including project timeline and phases, safety and environmental considerations, what to expect during construction, and how to stay informed and involved.
