The Great Valley Bookfest will return Saturday, Oct. 11, offering book lovers and families a day of author presentations, children’s activities and live entertainment near Bass Pro Shops in Manteca.

The free festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature Author Alley, cooking demonstrations, workshops, and various performances, according to event organizers.

Food trucks and concessions from AMC Theater will also be available.

For children, the event includes the Kids Energy Zone, where visitors can meet costumed characters, enjoy games and bounce houses, and take part in activities designed to spark a love of reading.

Local Oakdale author Kimberly Van Meter will be among the featured writers in Author Alley.

“All of the day’s activities … are provided absolutely free thanks to the generosity of all of our sponsors,” organizers said in a post.
