Friday night concert returns to park

Temperatures are forecast to edge just past 100 degrees on Friday, July 11 and that’s when the second of three planned free summer Concert in the Park nights will be staged in Escalon.

Scheduled to perform on the city’s Main Street Stage is the popular area band Valley Fire, with local resident Don Bionaz again providing free ice cream for attendees.

Funding to help put on the concert series was received from the office of San Joaquin County Supervisor Robert Rickman, discretionary District 5 funds approved for the three-concert series.

The Friday night event will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the last in the series, with the band still to be determined, is on the schedule for Friday, Aug. 8.

Also coming up downtown, the next Escalon Chamber of Commerce Farmer’s Market will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16. The market features fresh produce, a variety of merchandise vendors, live music, kids activities, and a food court area. The final market is on the schedule for next month, Wednesday, Aug. 20.
