San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation, a Division of the General Services Department, has announced the opening of the fishing dock at Westgate Landing Regional Park, restoring public access to the Mokelumne River and enhancing recreational opportunities for the community.
The previous dock, which had been closed since January 2025, has been rebuilt by the Facilities Management Division of the General Services Department and includes a wide, accessible ramp designed to improve safety and usability for anglers, families and visitors of all abilities. The structure uses a modular system manufactured by Mod-U-Dock, selected to meet accessibility and safety standards in a river environment.
“Access to our waterways is incredibly important to the communities we serve,” said Parks Administrator Ashika Lal. “This new dock brings Westgate Landing back online for public use and reflects the strength of our inter-departmental partnership within the General Services Department, as we work together to reinvest in infrastructure that supports access, safety and community use.”
Westgate Landing Regional Park provides a unique riverfront setting that is highly valued for fishing, boating access, wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation. The reopening of the dock strengthens the park’s role as a gateway to the river and supports continued community use of this important natural resource.
Located off Highway 12 near Terminous, Westgate Landing Regional Park offers approximately half a mile of river frontage, dry camping, picnic areas, and scenic views. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset. Parking fees are $5 cash on weekdays and $6 cash on most weekends. Camping is available by reservation only.
