Artists are being encouraged to get their entries ready; Delicato Family Vineyards is planning its 32nd Fine Art Show.

Up to five pieces per artist may be entered, at a cost of $9 per entry, in the competition. The Fine Art Show is open to entries by the creators of original art produced within the last three years.

Artists who would like to participate in the art show can submit entries to the Delicato Tasting Room from Jan. 5 through Jan. 20, 2022. Applications may be obtained by phoning, e-mailing, or visiting the Tasting Room in Manteca. They are also posted on the Tasting Room website: www.dfvtastingroom.com

The Manteca Tasting Room staff will be accepting entries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mediums of acrylic, watercolor, pastel, oil, charcoal or ink will be accepted. Judging of the original pieces in the categories of Landscape, Floral, and Portrait, Animals, Whimsical, Seascape and Other will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29. If all categories receive sufficient entries, 20 awards totaling over $1,600 will be given out.

The public is encouraged to visit the judged art that will be on display throughout the Tasting Room. All art in this show will be available for sale on a first come basis. Delicato Vineyards is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is off Highway 99 at exit 246, four miles north of Manteca.

The judge for the 2022 show is Rhett Regina Owings, who lives in California’s Central Valley. She graduated from San Francisco State with a major in Art. After 32 years teaching Art in public schools, she retired in 1999 to take up painting full time. Owings loves painting “en plein air” feeling that color, especially in sunlight. Color and play of light on trees, hills, water and buildings fascinate her. She has always been concerned with the environment and she tries to reflect this in her paintings of farms and countryside. She is an accomplished artist in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, pastels, and gouache.

A member of the Monterey Bay Area Plein Air Painters Association, the Central Coast Art Association as well as the Valley Sun Catchers and the Central California Art Association, her work can be seen on her website: www.RhettsStudio.com and her blog RhettsArtStudio.blogspot.com.

Numerous styles of art will be on display at the Delicato Fine Art Show. Visitors are encouraged to call the Tasting Room to reserve a tasting flight and cast a vote for their favorite piece of art. The winning artist will receive the coveted Visitor’s Choice Award. All current San Joaquin County COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, and a mask directive will posted at the entrance of the Tasting Room. Officials are asking that groups visiting are not larger than six persons.
