As AI tools become more common in the workplace, interest is growing in how they may affect jobs, businesses, and the workforce. This discussion brings together regional labor market analysis and business perspectives to explore how AI may reshape work in San Joaquin County.
The analysis from a March 2026 report shows that most workers in the region are employed in occupations with low to moderate overlap with current AI capabilities. This suggests AI is more likely to change how work is performed than replace jobs entirely.
New findings do indicate which local jobs may be most affected by growing AI use, based on the everyday tasks AI can already help with, such as analyzing data, drafting documents and finding information.
Partnering with the San Joaquin Council of Governments to put on the webinar is University of the Pacific – Center for Business and Policy Research.
