Having just officially observed their 80th anniversary, members of the Escalon Lions Club will be putting on the 60th annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner this weekend.
The club, said member Jeff Miller, was incorporated on March 7, 1946 and remains an active organization in the community, putting on several events and raising money for a number of programs, from high school scholarships to youth sports team sponsorships.
Next, the club members will be cooking up the traditional St. Patrick’s Day fare for the dinner on Saturday, March 14 at the Escalon Community Center.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m.; tickets are $40 per person.
There will be both live and silent auction items to bid on along with special musical selections performed by the El Portal Middle School Band.
Tickets can be purchased at D’Boni’s Pizza or Caliber Collision, both in Escalon, or from any Escalon Lions Club member.
Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots will make up the bulk of the traditional St. Patrick’s meal.
More information about the dinner or the Lions Club in general is available by contacting Brandon at 209-610-4268 or Taylor at 209-610-4269.
