A total of six official National Night Out gatherings are on the 2025 list, with a caravan of Escalon city, police, fire and ambulance personnel ready to roll on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

The evening will start with the various agencies coming together at the police department on McHenry Avenue, then moving from one stop to the next in a large caravan, typically going ‘lights and sirens’ as they travel in between the neighborhood events.

First stop for the caravan will be at Saron Lutheran Church at 1742 North Street, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 6:25 p.m., with a taco dinner planned there.

Then it will be off to 1546 Oakwood, with games and dessert, for a visit from 6:30 p.m. to 6:55 p.m.

Winterbrook Street residents will join in for a potluck barbecue and games, with the stop there from 7 p.m. to 7:25 p.m.

At 408 Valdapena Court, there will be hot dogs and games, with that visit set from 7:30 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.

Ice cream will be the featured treat for the gathering at 484 Palomino Court, the caravan scheduled to be there from 8 p.m. to 8:25 p.m.; and the evening will wrap up with a stop at 916 California, with that visit set from 8:30 p.m. to 8:55 p.m.

“I wanted six or seven,” Escalon Police Chief Anthony Hardgraves explained of stops for the three-hour Night Out celebration. “When we had eight or 10, it seemed like we only had 10 minutes at a stop; now we will have a little more time.”

With 25 minutes allotted for each neighborhood gathering, Hardgraves said that should provide ample time for the city and emergency services personnel and police officers to visit with residents and enjoy a bite to eat in a relaxed setting.

Observed across the country on the first Tuesday of August, the National Night Out event is designed to get neighbors together, outside, enjoying the camaraderie of community and making connections with police officers, city personnel and first responders.
