City plans yard sale, E-waste collection
CITY SIGN ESCALON

A couple of special events are coming up for City of Escalon residents in October, with sign-ups already underway for one of them.

The 33rd annual City-Wide Yard Sale is on the schedule for Saturday, Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Those wishing to get on the map for the sale can sign up in person at Escalon City Hall, 2060 McHenry Ave., or use the registration form included in the recently released September-October City Newsletter and return it in person or by mail to City Hall, 2060 McHenry Ave., Escalon, CA 95320. Deadline for sign-ups is Wednesday, Oct. 1, ahead of the Oct. 4 sale day. Both Escalon city and county addresses are eligible and the cost is just $5 to get your address on the map of the yard sales scheduled that day.

Maps will be available at City Hall and posted on the City of Escalon Facebook page to allow for treasure hunters to find sales throughout the city.

The yard sale day typically brings in shoppers, collectors and bargain hunters from a wide area.

A little later in October, the city’s next Electronic Waste Disposal Day is set for Sunday, Oct. 12 in the parking lot of the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 pm.; residents can drop off the accepted E-waste items any time during the four-hour collection window.

Items accepted include: televisions, computer monitors, radios and stereos, microwaves, fluorescent lights, printers, telephones, fax machines, cell phones and household batteries; no car batteries.

More information is available by calling City Hall at 209-691-7422.

Upcoming City of Escalon meetings include the City Council at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15; the Recreation Commission on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m.; City Council, Monday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.; Escalon Planning Commission, Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m.; and Escalon City Council on Monday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.

All meetings are hosted in the Escalon City Council Chambers, 2060 McHenry Ave., and are open to the public.
