A trio has been tapped for induction into the Escalon Unified School District Hall of Fame for 2026.
Approved by the EUSD board, the new inductees are Robert (Bob) Brayton, Al Caton and Bryan Ney.
The district’s Board of Trustees will formally induct them into the Hall of Fame at the Tuesday, March 3 board meeting, and the Hall of Fame/Employee Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, March 20 in the EHS Performing Arts Center.
All three of this year’s inductees have been informed of their selection.
Tickets for the ceremony are $25 each, and can be purchased at the District Office starting Monday, Feb. 23.
Robert (Bob) Brayton was involved in the school community while his children attended EHS, coaching sports, and he also has provided continual financial support of the athletics programs. He has assisted the District in numerous construction projects as president of C.T. Brayton and Sons, saved the District money on modernization and construction projects, and supported the District through donations of both time and money.
“Escalon Unified is not just any district, I feel part of this district,” Brayton said.
Al Caton attended Escalon High from 1960 to 1964 and was named All TVL in both football and baseball. He served as an EUSD board member from 1990 to 2012 and was part of the football coaching staff from 1989 to 2012, involved in several championship seasons. He still attends football games and supports EHS athletics through donations.
Bryan Ney is an EHS alum, as are his two children. He was hired as a sixth-grade teacher in 1983 and served as El Portal’s basketball coach as well as coaching flag football, track and cross country, in addition to varsity football at EHS.
He served as Coordinator for Science Camp for sixth grade students, served on the EUTA negotiations team and also was the 1991-92 recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award for the school district.
