Escalon’s Gino Franceschetti, left, and his aunt Jill (Franceschetti) Victorino suited up earlier this month to serve down the third and first base lines, respectively, at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Franceschetti is the current varsity baseball coach for Escalon High School; Jill’s father, the late Emanuel ‘Sketty’ Franceschetti, was his grandfather. Sketty and his friend, the late Herman Grabow, served several years as ‘Ball Dudes’ for the Giants and Jill has often been a ‘Ball Dudette.’ This was Gino Franceschetti’s first time working at the park; Giants broadcasters made note of the family history with the sport and their service to the Giants organization during the televised game on Sept. 13.
