The Valley Art Association, in partnership with the City of Oakdale, will present its 54th Annual Art Show at the Gene Bianchi Community Center in March. The show will be open to the public on Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
An awards reception will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. Visitors are invited to view a wide variety of artwork and participate by voting for their favorite piece in the People’s Choice Award.
Artists from throughout the region may submit artwork at the community center on Thursday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information or to request an artist entry form, email ValleyArtAssociation@gmail.com.
Artwork will be displayed across nine classifications, including oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, photography, pottery, sculpture, and more. Awards and ribbons will be presented for first, second, third, and honorable mention in each category.
This year, high school students are invited to enter and showcase their work. Student entries will be judged in two classifications—2-D and 3-D art—with awards and ribbons for first, second, third, and honorable mention.
Several tables of silent auction items will also be available during the show, with proceeds benefiting scholarships for graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education in art-related majors.
The Valley Art Association meets the second Monday of each month at the Gladys Lemmons Senior Community Center, 450 E. A St., in Oakdale, at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in art is welcome to attend.
