Myrna Louise Hohenwarter, 82, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23 at Oak Valley Care Center in Oakdale, surrounded by her friends and family.

She was born on February 16, 1925 in Norton, Kansas to Arthur and Sarah Skiles. When she was 10 years old they moved to California where she attended Escalon Elementary School, Escalon Union High School and then Modesto Junior College, graduating in 1943.

She is survived by her son Tom and his wife Caroline Hohenwarter of Oakdale; daughter-in-law Jeannie Hohenwarter of Escalon; sisters Blanche Yunt of Modesto and Iris Bruening of Monterey; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin L. Hohenwarter, and her children, Michael L Hohenwarter, John E. Hohenwarter, and Nancy L. Huffer.

She enjoyed reading, dining out, going to the casino, and spending time with her friends. She was an office manager for various farming enterprises. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Grandma's Club of Escalon, and YLI where she was also a past treasurer. She was a resident of Escalon for 72 years.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road in Escalon.
