Maria "Balbina" Reis, 55, passed away on October 9, 2007 at the Kaiser Hospital in Manteca after a yearlong battle with cancer.

She was born on October 8, 1952 in St. Jorge, Azores to Manuel and Ines Flores.

Balbina was a resident of Escalon, and worked at Escalon Packers for 15 years. She was very kind hearted and known as the sweetest person you'd ever meet. She was always the first one to help out wherever needed. She was very religious and family oriented, she loved her family very much and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She loved to dance, cook and clean, and enjoyed spending time with her friends.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Jose Reis; her children, Paul and his wife Windy Reis of Collegeville, Joe and his wife Melinda Reis of Escalon, and Tony Reis of Escalon; her grandchildren Jeremiah Reis of Escalon and Valarie Reis of Collegeville; her mother Ines Flores of St. Jorge; and her siblings, Mario and his wife Ana Flores of Turlock and Arthur and his wife Maria Flores of St. Jorge.

She was preceded in death by her father Manuel Flores.

Visitation was on Monday, October 15 at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon. Her rosary-mass was on Tuesday, October 16, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Escalon, with burial following at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
