Attilio "Tillie" Nomelli, 85, of Escalon died Tuesday, Aug. 21 at his home.

Born on July 10, 1922 in Guadalupe, California, he had lived in Escalon for 80 years.

He worked for Petri Winery (Allied Grape Growers) and retired as a foreman after 40 years. He enjoyed his friends and family, gambling and socializing at the V.F.W. Hall in Ripon.

Survivors include his children, Gary and his wife Vicky Nomelli of Waterford, Lana Nomelli of Oregon, Janie and her husband Gene Bunton of Arkansas, Paulette Nomelli of Escalon and Fred Nomelli of Salida; grandchildren, Lorina Cajias, Donald Angle Jr., Steven Hall, Anthony Nomelli, Vincent Nomelli, Gina Bunton, Cindy Bunton, Allen Bunton and Steven Johnson; siblings, Lawrence Nomelli, Linda Overmyer, Daisy McDowell and Angelo Nomelli.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Giacomo and Josephine Nomelli; his wife, Nelba Nomelli; grandson, Thomas Bunton and brothers, Sylvio, Ernesto and Bill Nomelli.

Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 23 at Deegan Funeral Chapel, services were Friday, Aug. 25 at the chapel. Burial was at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.
